Last weekend

Managed yet another 48 hour last weekend at my more than local lake.. when i got there the peg i wanted to fish was empty and i was pretty confident on bagging at least one lump.. i rushed to set up my house and then went and sat in my friends swim for a while and have a few beers in the sunshine.. At 11pm it dawned on me i hadn't cast my rods out and at that point i thought sod it a few more beers wont hurt.. I staggered bag to my swim at about midnight after a healthy delivery from the kebab shop and you guessed it one more beer.. looked at the bait boat and thought  thats too much hastle and just cast my rods onto the mark i knew i wanted to fish... well one rod went out fine the second rod cracked off so it stayed leant up against the bivvy as did the third... about 5am i was up (slightly hung over) setting up my rods and baiting with just a small amount of freebees..It turned out to be the hottest October day on record and i can honestly say i have never seen so many fish showing at the lake that never shows. 8.45pm my right hand rod gave a few beeps then after a second or two of scilence the beautiful sound of a one toner....  after a short fight i had the 18.9 linear on the bank and although chuffed to have caught, i couldnt hide my disapointment at this repeat catch infact i think i have had it about 8 times now. Still on this challenging water a fish is still a fish..  A few hours later my left hand rod screemed off and it felt like one of the big girls for a few minutes, right up until the hook pulled.. ARRRGGGGHHHHH..

I guess you can say it was a good weekend, great company, plenty of beer and a fish on the bank.. Add to that packing my gear away all nice and dry and clean and getting home in time to cook a family bbq on Sunday.. got to call it a RESULT!!!
